Greatest NBA player of the Decade

Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Julius Erring, and Magic Johnson are just some of the names that made an impact in the world of basketball because they excelled above the rest in their respective time. In the current basketball era, players have emerged and brought the level of playing basketball, but one player stood above the rest. Kobe Bryant is the greatest basketball player of the decade because of his basketball resume, superb leadership, and his appeal to basketball fans worldwide.

If one would look at Kobe's credentials, describing it as "impressive" is an understatement. When he started his career as a Laker, he won the title of "Slam dunk Champion", he was a starter in the Allstar games, and he won 3 championship rings with Shaquille O'neal. After their tenure together, Kobe further cemented his status as one of the greatest players of all time by bagging the title of Scoring Champion, more Allstar appearances, and he recently won the Most Valuable Player award and got the Championship last year. And to sum it all up, he helped Team USA win the Gold at the recent Beijing Olympics as the team co-captain.

The next thing that makes Kobe a spectacular player is his undeniable superb leadership in the basketball court. He will do the things that are needed to secure the win. He will take the final shot if he needs to, pass the ball to an open man if the situation arises, anything. He will incorporate his team mates because he knows that basketball is a team sport. Some people see Kobe as someone who always shoot the ball, but that's who he is -- a clutch player you can depend on in the naming seconds with a killer instinct and the desire to win.

Finally, people all over the world idolize Kobe because his skill and "swagger" makes him very appealing. His flashy posses, three-point bombers and thunderous dunks leave the audience breathless and in awe. When Team USA was in China for the Olympics, Kobe was the most popular of them all. His line of endorsements, like Nike and Gatorade to name a few, also boosts his global reach to fans worldwide that idolize and look up to him.

In the end, players who come and go in the NBA leaves a mark, no matter how big or small their contribution may have been. Be it be a scoring spree in a game, a franchise record in points is broken or a locker room controversy, it will have an effect in the game of basketball. The reasons that were stated are enough to name Kobe Bryant as the Greatest NBA Player of the Decade.
